Shyhrete Behluli

Shyhrete Behluli is a very well-known singer. She was born in the village of Mushtisht in Theranda, where she completed her primary education, and her secondary education in Prizren, while the Faculty of Philology in Prishtina. Her family had a musical tradition, though not public. She dedicated herself to singing with all her strength, and she has never been separated from it. The song became a part of her life, accompanying her through the paths of life, bringing joy and sometimes sorrows. Her talent was first discovered by the music teacher, Mr. Ibrahim Hamiti, who supported her and engaged her to dedicate herself wholeheartedly to singing. The great merit for her reaching the peaks of success also belongs to her family circle (father, grandmother) and the social circle.

She made her first stage appearance in 1974 with the song “Cuca e maleve” where the music teacher accompanied her on the guitar, and she sang. When the audience began to applaud, from which the whole hall echoed, she, overwhelmed with joy and emotion, for a moment seemed to forget the lyrics of the song. At that moment, she thought she would never engage in singing again, moments that influenced her belief that a song with good lyrics and melody will always be dear and will live long in the hearts of the people. Her father, Xhemal Behluli, who was a true cultivator of folk and traditional music, assisted her in the early steps of her career.

Over these four decades, our music star, Shyhrete Behluli, has collaborated on hundreds of occasions and released dozens of albums with Shkurte Feja, Mahmut Ferati, Remzije Osmani, Motrat Mustafa, Shaqir Cërvadiku, Shkëlzen Jetishi, and others.
